STACEY RUPOLO (SHE/HER), MSW, LSW
I come to Practical Magic Healing after spending a decade as a photojournalist. As someone who changed career paths, I know what it means to live paycheck to paycheck, nurture creative ambitions, grapple with imposter syndrome, and let go of an old identity in pursuit of new opportunities and personal growth.
I believe you can’t heal a person with broken systems, which is why I’m a fierce abolitionist, committed anti-racist practitioner, and humble lifelong learner. I believe that to understand an individual, you must look at how to contend with the power structures that shape their world, like systemic racism, classism, sexism, and homophobia. I practice from a trauma-informed and client-centered approach, which means that I look to you as the expert on your lived experience. My approach is flexible, sometimes direct and active, and sometimes not, depending on what you need.
I practice using mindfulness, narrative therapy, family system concepts, and psychodynamic approaches blended with cognitive restructuring to support people experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulty with relationships, life transitions, grief and loss, intergenerational trauma, and complicated family systems. I enjoy working with emerging adults, older adults and the interpersonal dynamics involved in couples therapy. I am also trained in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, which is a way of looking at how trauma impacts brain development and using the mind-body-community connection to heal and help regulate people who have survived trauma.
Everyone deserves a source of patience, understanding, and unconditional positive regard in their life. I work to be that person for my clients to impart real relief, insight, and joy in their lives. If you feel ready to take the next step toward increased self-awareness and peace, I would be honored to walk on a healing path with you.
